| QJRN/400 is made up of two main modules:

A suite for the journaling administration.

All the journals can be declared
and monitored by QJRN/400. The already existing ones are easily recovered. QJRN/400 also deals with the creation and running of journaling environments. QJRN/400 can run perfectly well with other high availability software.
Each environment has a repository that describes the fields in the fully journaled database. This repository is automatically generated and has numerous possibilities of customization. It focuses on all databases and it is preloaded for system journals. |

A configurable query manager |

Thanks to an original and unique design of the query system, the content of receivers is presented in a clear, pleasant and precise way. There are various selection possibilities. Finally, the different restitution modes (OS/400 messages, email, display, prints, files) combined with all types of execution (continuous, automatic or scheduled mode) contribute to the implementation of detailed and automated audit schemes. |

Administration functions |

Existing journaling environments are taken into account.

Complete journaling environments (journal, receiver, journaled physical files) are created.

Administration parameters are managed for each journal (administration method, number of days for keeping receivers online, maximum size allocated to online receivers, …).

Management of receivers (detach, delete, save).

It controls the size of receivers and actions if they exceed the limit.

Deleted receivers are logged.

It produces performance indicators for each environment (file axes, online receivers, deleted receivers).

Advanced queries can be made on user profiles (filters on the class, special authority, audit level, group, …).

A detailed list of files is transferred to production (new files; created, modified and deleted fields).

Selection of sensitive information |

There are different selection possibilities with standard operators (=, >, <, Like, Range, List...) or by specific programs applicable to all fields, in absolute or relative values (by value, percentage or specific to dates).

The lists of values to select or leave out can be entered or filled by program or by a previous query.

You can select generic solutions such as:
-“operations carried out outside office hours”
-“operations carried out outside the application” (compared to a repository of programs considered to be part of the application).

You can have complementary selections: relative numbers, profiles (class, group, special authorizations), programs, jobs, systems and periods.

You can select additional actions: presentation alternatives (classification, break, import of other database fields), reconciliation of create/delete couples, order releases.

The different processing modes |

Normal mode:
queries can be run upon request (by batch or interactively): this mode is used for punctual research.

Continuous mode:
when you wish to detect fraudulent behavior or search for an insecure bug in the application, this mode will immediately alert the person in charge when the event occurs.

Automatic mode:
this mode is automatically run when receivers are detached. It ensures that you have a complete set of information, either for statistics or traceability in the case of quality monitoring.

Scheduled mode:
produces at pre-defined intervals information on the history of your application or your system.

Printed outputs:
from instant image of the tracked event to general statistics, QJRN/400 offers a wide range of report possibilities concerning the follow-up of the running of your applications.

Screen outputs: clear and configurable, they display the changes made to the current selection.

Message outputs:
specifically adapted to queries in continuous mode, they warn in real-time when the bug you are searching for occurs (an OS/400 message is sent to the IT department) or when a potentially suspicious modification has been made to a sensitive field (an email is sent to the person in charge of credit limitation). They can also be used as monthly statistics by email to the audit department.

Trace file outputs:
very useful to follow the history of movements in critical fields (reconstitution of the log of a folder in a medical company). Specifically adapted to automatic mode, they allow you to downsize the receivers so as to keep only the most interesting material.

Preparation file outputs:
for large volumes, you may do a pre-selection, which will then be dealt with by one or more queries.

Distribution of physical and spool files:
This function is provided by the POST-FILE module: the files are dispatched via the Intranet, to the Internet or towards another server by FTP. It offers different possibilities: delete a file after sending it, type of file conversion, file as an attachment or in the email itself. |

The module of access control to your IBM iSeries via TCPIP and Client Access, as well as user commands. |

File comparison queries: the files can be compared with the same degree of detail as for the analysis of the receivers. |
